Surgery, contact and follow-up

Dr Simon Laneuville performs two main types of eye surgery, at two dedicated surgical facilities. Every procedure is preceded by a complete, personalised pre-operative assessment.

The procedures offered

Cataract surgery

What it treats

Clouding of the lens: replaced with an intraocular implant to restore clear vision.

Location

Meudon

Refractive surgery (LASIK, PRK, SMILE, PresbyLASIK…)

What it treats

Lasting correction of myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia — freedom from glasses and contact lenses.

Location

Clinique Lamartine, Paris 16

Both procedures are performed on an outpatient basis (admission and discharge the same day), under local or topical anaesthesia.

Quote and payment

Patients travelling from abroad are not covered by the French national health insurance. A detailed, personalised quote is issued for each procedure, before any decision, itemising all costs: surgeon’s fees, clinic and anaesthesia fees, the implant (for cataract), the pre-operative assessment and follow-up consultations.

This quote is sent to you by our centre manager, Aurélie DEROME. You can forward it to your private insurer to request coverage or reimbursement, subject to the terms of your policy.

Cataract

A separate quote is issued for each eye. The choice of implant (monofocal, toric or multifocal) affects the price and is explained to you beforehand.

Refractive surgery

A single quote covering the chosen technique(s) (LASIK, PRK, SMILE…) is provided after the pre-operative assessment.

Payment is settled before the procedure, by bank transfer, in euros (€). Please check the applicable terms with your insurer in advance (pre-authorisation, upfront payment, reimbursement).

Planning your stay in Paris

Each procedure is performed as day surgery. Please plan your stay as follows:

Cataract

≈ 5 days

on site, per eye

Allow around 5 days on site per eye (assessment, surgery and the D+1 follow-up consultation). The second eye is operated on during a second stay or a few days later, depending on your schedule.

Refractive surgery

1 day

on site

1 day on site is enough (assessment and surgery on the same day). Post-operative follow-up is then arranged remotely or relayed by a colleague in your home country. PRK, with its longer recovery, may nonetheless warrant an extended stay.

In some cases the pre-operative assessment can also be prepared remotely beforehand. Aurélie DEROME coordinates everything with you.

Follow-up to expect

After cataract surgery

  • Check-ups at day 1, around day 7, then at 1 month.
  • Antibiotic and anti-inflammatory eye drops for several weeks.
  • Avoid rubbing the eye, swimming pools, dusty environments and eye make-up in the first days.
  • The second eye is usually operated on a few days to weeks later.

After refractive surgery

  • LASIK / SMILE: fast visual recovery (24–48 h), return to activities within a few days. Check-ups at day 1, day 7, 1 month, then 3 months.
  • PRK: more gradual recovery (a few days of discomfort, vision stabilising over 2–4 weeks), a bandage contact lens is worn in the first days.
  • Lubricating and healing eye drops depending on the technique.
  • Protect your eyes from the sun and avoid rubbing during healing.
